The Wise Giving Alliance’s Standards of Charity Accountability
The Wise Giving Alliance’s Standards of Charity Accountability Part of the Johnson Center's FREE Brown Bag Lunch & Learn series All nonprofit professionals know that their organizations are expected to be open and transparent to the public, but what is the threshold for that transparency? What information is important to give to the public? Are there best practices for doing this? The Wise Giving Alliance, in partnership with nonprofit leaders and accountants developed the 20 Standards of Charity Accountability to help answer these questions. These standards were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. They seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy. This presentation will cover: The 20 Standards of Charity Accountability What it looks like to meet the standards How these standards differ from other reporting agencies and state requirements How these standards affect the nonprofit sector Led by: Raechel Macqueen and Shelbee Axsom-Anderson Cost: Free!
